Who Climbs with Bob?

Chode . . .

Chode, web site author and maintainer. Climbing with Bob is the result a perfectly functional engineer thrust into the trauma of law school and the need for a break from all that came with the experience. That was ten years ago and what started as a Word based narrative about a trip to Bolivia has grown to a site of over 300 pages and more than 15,000 page views a month . . .

Over the past twelve years, I've climbed all of the 14'ers of Colorado, and most of its Centennials. During the course of making those climbs, I've added winter summits, spring snow climbs, and covered too many miles on snowshoes. My overseas climbing includes a 21,000 foot summit in the Ramada Range of Argentina, two trips to the Cordilleras Real and one to the Cordillera Apolobamba of Bolivia, two trips to the Cordilleras Blanca and one to the Cordillera Vilcanota of Peru, and two trips to the Canadian Rockies.

G'Tard . . .

G'Tard is about to wrap up the 14'ers, needing only two more to complete the list. His oversea pursuant include a trip the volcanoes of Ecuador, the Ramada Range of Argentina, two trips to the Cordilleras Real and one to the Cordillera Apolobamba of Bolivia, two trips to the Cordilleras Blanca and one to the Cordillera Vilcanota of Peru, and two trips to the Canadian Rockies. He led our trip to Mt. Rainier, substituting being the leader of our Emmons Glacier climb for a prior guided trip up the tourist route. He's one hell of a lot better AT skier than I and our master of glacier travel. Aside from climbing, he is an expert on midgets, Elvis "chops" sideburns and keeping Bob on his toes.

Malbec . . .

Malbec came on board about four years ago and has since punched his 20,000 foot card in Argentina and climbed and trekked 80 miles through Peru's Cordillera Vilcanota. He's got a good selection of 14'ers, 13'ers, snow climbs and some very long approaches.

And if you must know, Malbec takes his name from the infamous Croatian "post war expatriate", Hauptsturmfuhrer Stanislav Malbec of the Waffen SS' 13th Division. OK, maybe I made that part up . . .

Reach Around . . .

Reach Around now has 50 14'ers, the summits of Mts. Rainier and Hood, glacier climbs in Canada and the summit of Mt. Assiniboine. Reach enjoys a good car camp but would prefer not to encounter any bears along the way to or from the summit.

If Reach plays his cards right . . . he'll knock out the last of the Colorado 14'ers this year.
